Mandatory Energy and Water Reporting

All large residential, commercial and institutional buildings in Ontario are legally required to report to the Ministry of Energy.

Starting in 2025, buildings in Toronto greater than 10,000² ft. will also be required to report.


Deadline for Reporting: July 1st of each year

Note: The area measure here is Gross Floor Area (GFA) which includes the entire area within exterior walls. Since it includes stairwells, underground parking, elevator shafts and other common spaces it is larger than the square footage of the building.

We Can Provide the Following Reporting Services

EWRB ID, assessment roll number, contact and building information is collected. GFA can be measured.

We request your utility providers for hydro, gas and water data, or collect the data directly from utility bills.

We review the data and resolve anomalies or missing data points.

We set up your Energy Star Portfolio Manager profile, and upload your building’s information. We report utility data, and resolve any issues that come up with the Ministry of Energy directly.
